The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Here’s an error that probably had continuity staff kicking themselves later. In The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Eddie, played by Meat Loaf, wears three rings most of the time. But when he’s playing the saxophone, his pinkie ring with the iron cross design is missing. In a movie that had much the same cult following to the theater production, fans were bound to notice this error.
Someone should’ve taken better notes!
Oh well, wearing such a large ring might be a bit impractical, but it’s nowhere near as impractical as the low doorway bulkheads in Star Wars (next)
Star Wars
Star Wars storm trooper costume helmets probably don’t offer a very wide field of view for the actors. Combine that limitation with unusually low control room doorway bulkheads and a tight shooting schedule and you have a tiny bit of movie history. This is one of those amazing errors that happens in plain sight in a movie seen by millions, yet most people don’t catch it the first time around.
The taller storm trooper in the background of this brief shot clearly bonks his head on the bulkhead. But unlike some other creative revisions to the DVD release of the movie, the editors decided to just go with the error. Instead of digitally erasing the mistake, they added a small sound effect when the helmet hits the wall! Not every glaring mistake is a disaster.
