Glow Sticks
It’s crazy how many uses a glow stick has. It can serve as a trail marker, signal, night light, and more. Luckily glow sticks are inexpensive (especially after Halloween) and they’re easy to use. You can usually find them at your local convenient store or at a Halloween store during October. If you don’t see them a lot in your area consider stocking up on them after Halloween – they’ll be much more affordable then.
If a hiker forgets his flashlight and runs into darkness a glow stick makes a dimmer, yet still effective light. And if you’re worried about getting lost you can drop a glow stick somewhere so you’ll know that’s where you were last.
We don’t want to think about the confusion that’ll happen when a disaster happens, but if we have supplies such as glow sticks available to us, then like will be easier to manage.
Tissues
Tissues will have multiple uses during an emergency. They are obviously needed for when you get sick since you don’t want snot to go everywhere or your nose to get raw if you have to use something else like paper towels. Tissues like Kleenex are also a good idea to have some toilet paper as back up. However, if your toilets are still running don’t use too many tissues – it can back up your toilet!
Consider putting some tissues in your bug out bag and also in your car. You never know when your nose may act up or if you need to wipe something off of your kid’s grimy hands. They’re also great to have if you get a minor scratch and need to wipe up the blood. There are several uses for tissues so be sure to have plenty of them.
