Boomslang
Moving on to venomous snakes found in other parts of the world, the boomslang is a swift, agile snake whose venom packs a punch. Luckily this snake is non-aggressive and shy, making it challenging to track down in its habitat in Saharan Africa. However, that hasn’t stopped it from earning its terrifying reputation.
This snake has very large eyes that take up a large section of their head and young snakes are especially beautiful because their eyes are iridescent green. Don’t let the eyes of this snake fool you though. If you were to ever come across one in the wild you should be thankful if you get away unscathed. What this snake’s venom is capable of doing to a victim is something out of a horror movie. It’s hemotoxic, which means that it destroys red blood cells. The disruption of the clotting process results in tissue and organ degeneration resulting in the victim bleeding to death from the nose, gums, and other body parts.
So as you can see, this snake is not to be trifled with!
Common Krait
The Common Krait is a highly venomous snake found in the Indian subcontinent. This type of snake is found all over Peninsular India and in neighboring countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. They are found in a variety of habitats from lowland plants to hills at higher elevations. You can find it in rainforests, deciduous forests, semi-deserts, grasslands, wetlands, and even rocky terrain.
The Common Krait is a slender medium-sized snake with a smooth and glossy appearance. This snake’s color varies from a pale bluish gray, bluish black, or a glossy black. It also has around 40-50 narrow yellowish, white, or grayish crossbands all over the body.
This infamous venomous snake is a member of the “Big Four” snakes of India, and it also happens to have the most potent snake venom amongst them. In other words, it is regarded as one of the most toxic snakes in the world. The Common Krait is known for the majority of snake bites on humans in India.
