The Town that Dreaded Sundown
It’s likely you’ve heard of the horror classic, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, a film about a hooded man who, in the late 1940s, stalked and killed teenagers in Texarkana. The terrifying film is loosely based on a real person. The media dubbed this mystery man The Phantom Killer and he committed the infamous “The Texarkana Moonlight Murders.”
He started by killing teenagers at Lovers’ Lane and doing unspeakable things to the girl he attacked. Soon after, he killed more teenagers by a nearby road, followed an attack on a couple in their home. In that later attack, the woman was hurt and the man was killed. After that final slaying, The Phantom Killer disappeared and no one has been able to track him down since. People were rightly terrified by the serial killer.
The Texas Department of Public Safety called The Phantom Killer’s murder spree “the number one unsolved murder case in Texas history.”
Great read……wish it was longer. Good work
