The Future Starlet
Twenty-six-year-old Jean Spangler wanted to be a movie star but unfortunately the future starlet didn’t reach her full potential because she disappeared without a trace in October of 1949. Jean Elizabeth Spangler was an American actress, model, and dancer, who appeared in small parts in a variety of Hollywood films in the late 1940s, but she hoped to be the star in future films. Unfortunately, she never got the chance.
At age 26, Spangler left home, while her mother was gone, and then vanished. Later, her purse was found with a note written to a man named Kirk. The note read, “Can’t wait any longer, Going to see Dr. Scott. It will work best this way while mother is away.” Sounds pretty suspicious, right?
It turned out that Kirk was none other than Kirk Douglas, father of Michael Douglas and, of course, a well-known movie star. Kirk claimed that Spangler had a role in one of his upcoming films, but it didn’t go beyond that. The police let it go and considered other possibilities, but nothing stuck. There are, however, plenty of theories, from the speculation that Kirk Douglas killed her, to Spangler being connected to a mobster, but these mostly amount to far-fetched guesses. Spangler also had an abusive ex-husband, so it is even speculated there was foul play from that quarter. Just like the other unsolved mysteries we’ve mentioned, this case is likely to remain a mystery.
The next case is much more recent, but it has generated almost as much speculation and as many rumors as the Spangler case…
Great read……wish it was longer. Good work
